Taika Waititi In Talks To Direct Upcoming 'Star Wars' Movie

Even though the Skywalker Saga has finished, more Star Wars movies with fresh and new stories are on their way... and one future may have found it's director! Per the Hollywood Reporter, "Taika Waititi, the filmmaker behind the Oscar-nominated Jojo Rabbit and Thor: Ragnarok, has been approached to develop a Star Wars movie." It is unclear which future franchise Waititi will helm. Will he be taking over for the recently departed Benioff and Weiss on their would be project? Will he be re-teaming with producer Kevin Feige on his upcoming producing venture? the opportunities are endless!

Waititi's first go-around in the Star Wars universe came from his involvement in season 1 of The Mandalorian. He not only played sassy robot IG-11, but also directed the high acclaimed season finale of the popular Disney+ series. Due to this, "the New Zealand filmmaker is also now in the orbit of Jon Favreau, the Iron Man director who created and executive produced The Mandalorian and is now partly in charge of overseeing the future of Star Wars across streaming TV and the big screen" (Statt).

It will be interesting to see how a Tiaka Waititi Star Wars film will turn out. I think it is safe to say, this will be a different kind of Star Wars film than we've seen before! What are your thoughts on this news? Comment down below and let us know your thoughts!
