Black Widow Trailer - Quick Review

We have finally gotten the trailer for the standalone Black Widow movie! Granted this film should’ve probably come out about four years ago but hey... at least we’re finally getting it. I would say I would be more excited for the film if the Black Widow character wasn’t... spoiler alert... dead. However, I hope that even though Black Widow is a prequel, the standalone movie will still progress the MCU forward and not keep it at a standstill. Other things that stood out to me what is the quick look we got at David Harbour’s take on the character Red Guardian. In the comics, the Red Guardian is kind of a Russian Knockoff off of Captain America, and I think having this “knock off” character being an out of shape, middle aged man is a fun way to take the character. Finally, the action in this movie seems to be filmed quite well. At San Diego Comic Con, I was actually able to see a full fight scene between the Black Widow and her sister and I got to say, if the action that is depicted in this film is very reminiscent of Captain America the Winter Soldier. And if the entire movie can even closely resemble that film... I think we’re going to have a great addition to the MCU on our hands!

“Black Widow” is directed by Cate Shortland, written by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson, and stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow, alongside David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz. Set after the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016), the film sees Romanoff on the run and forced to confront her past.
